Medicare Cards to be Replaced by April 2019
We wish to stress the importance of the ongoing program to replace all Medicare cards and numbers. Remember:
- Between now and April 2019, beneficiaries will get new Medicare ID cards with a new Medicare number replacing your Social Security Number on the card. This is an effort to reduce fraud and identity theft.
- Your card might arrive anytime in the next year.
- Avoid callers saying they are from Medicare and suggesting you must pay for a temporary card. This could be a scam. Medicare will not call you unless you ask them to. Report possible fraud at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-6334227), or visit Medicare’s website.
